Xbox Series Controller TMR Joysticks Upgrade Service

Like all controllers that used traditional ALPS carbon potentiometers, official retail Xbox Series controllers also suffer from joystick drift after a certain time of use. Microsoft controller calibration tool can not calibrate this type of drift due to frequent physical movement that has caused wore-out on joystick’s wiper and scratches on the resistive carbon coating.

Thanks to the TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) Joystick , the next generation joystick after Hall Effect joystick,  there is no resistive carbon coating and wiper but a TMR IC which sensors the joystick movement without physically touching the resistive carbon coating. So, the TMR joystick will last almost permanently.

What does the Xbox TMR joysticks upgrade service involve?

The upgrade service involves de-solder the existing  ALPS potentiometers on both sides and replace them with the new TMR joysticks. De-soldering a 14 pin joystick from mainboard without damaging traces on PCB could be extremely difficult without the right tools and adequate experiences.  With the specially designed de-soldering tool , we are able to complete the work safely with satisfaction. We will also calibrate the controller to ensure both new joysticks staying in center position and best coverage of all movement. Calibration data is then saved in the controller’s firmware.

We will have the work completed within 1-2 days after receiving your controllers and notify you once the package is ready to ship.

If any controllers sent to us had issues other than the joysticks,  there will be some extra charges and we will quote you for the extra work involved. There won’t be any extra charges for any working controllers, and any controllers with just joysticks issues only.
