Like all controllers that used ALPS carbon potentiometers, official retail PS5 controllers also suffer from joystick drift after a certain time of use. This type of drift can not be re-calibrated due to frequent wiper movement that has caused joystick wiper wore-out and scratches on resistive coating.

Thanks for the new Joystick with Hall Effect sensors. There is no resistive carbon coating and wiper but a HALL IC which sensors the joystick movement without physically touching and scratching. The new HALL Effect joystick will last almost permanently.

What does the modification involve?

We de-solder the existing both left and right ALPS potentiometers and replace them with the new HALL Effect joysticks. De-soldering a 14 pin joystick from mainboard without damaging traces on PCB could be extremely difficulty. However, with a specially designed de-soldering tool , we are able to complete the work safely with satisfaction. We will also calibrate the controller after the HALL Effect joysticks installed to ensure both joysticks centering position and best coverage of movement. Calibration data is then saved in the controller’s firmware.

This listing is for any working official controllers to be modified with the HALL joysticks , as well as any official PS5 controllers that have stick drift or centering issues. We’ll replace the ALPS part with the new HALL Effect joysticks with no extra charge !
