Like all controllers that employed standard ALPS potentiometers ( analog stick ) , official retail PS5 controllers also suffer from joystick drift after a certain time of use. This type of drift can not be re-calibrated due to frequent mechanical wiper movements caused the wiper wore-out and scratches on resistive coating of potentiometers.

Thanks for the new Joystick that employs Hall sensors. There is no resistive coating or mechanical wiper but a HALL IC which sensors the joystick movements without physical touching and scratching. The new HALL joystick is almost a permanent solution for PS5 controller’s drift issue.
