The symptom of this error is: when switching on PS3, the LED goes green for one or a few seconds then turns to RED and keeps blinking. You can see LEDs showing Yellow for a very short time when the LED changes from Green to RED. There is no video or audio from TV. This is major hardware failure in general.
This problem has been discovered to be one or more solder balls under the Graphic Process Unit fractured due to heat cycles. To fix this problem, the said device needs to be reballed using professional BGA re-work station. We have more detailed in our Tech Info page.

All PS3 YLOD repairs will include the cooling fan modification that involves installation of an extra device. This will increase the speed of cooling fan in order to further cool down the temperature but the noise is still maintained at an acceptable level. See pictures below:
